Katherine Evelyn Anita Cassidy, better known by her professional name of Katie Cassidy, is a major American film and television star, having appeared in movies such as ‘Taken’ and ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street.’
Katie was born to model Sherry Williams and actor David Cassidy, but the two separated some time after her birth. She was raised in California by her mother and step-father. Growing up, she participated in local theater and studied under an acting coach before receiving her first break in 2004. Katie was not allowed by her parents to pursue her dream of acting until she had finished high school.
Shortly after graduating high school, Katie landed a supporting role in the comedy film ‘Click,’ featuring Adam Sandler. She landed a role in the remake of the cult classic film, ‘Revenge of the Nerds,’ but production was ceased and the project canceled. Katie later starred as Amanda in the movie ‘Taken,’ alongside Liam Neeson and Faamke Jansen. She appeared in the 2011 film ‘Monte Carlo’ and has a role in the upcoming flick ‘Fencewalker,’ which is currently in post-production.
As she moved into television roles, Katie Cassidy starred in the reboot of ‘Melrose Place,’ in addition to accepting the recurring role of Ruby on ‘Supernatural’ and currently acts a spokesperson for a Malawi based charity.
