While she may be most well known for her TV roles, Mrs. Cassidy is slowly making a name for herself on the big screen as well. Her work in the movie “When a Stranger Calls” has received many laudatory commendations form all the top critics. From that beginning she went on to continue to shine in such films as “Click” and recently in the film “A Nightmare on Elm Street” Her stage presence is slowly becoming the legendary. Many are anticipating her newest film called “Fence walker”. It is a sure thing that Katie Cassidy will be tantalizing movie viewers’ for many years to come.

One of the first TV roles that comes to mind is the character Ruby in the third season of the hit show Supernatural. Soon after she played Trish Wellington in the Horror-Drama Harper’s Island. She also had a great stint on Gossip Girl, playing the character Juliet Sharp. But her best known role to date is probably that of resident bad girl Ella Simms on Melrose Place.

Miss Cassidy brought Ella Simms to life, and made her an instant fan favorite. In playing Ella, Katie showed she could not only portray a witty vixen, but also show vulnerability. She completely held her own with actress Heather Locklear’s character Amanda.

Katie has a knack for playing multi-layered, complicated characters. It will be exciting to see where her career in television goes next.

In addition to Melrose Place, Katie has had many television roles. She starred as Trish Wellington in Harper’s Island, ABC’s 2009 mini-series about a group of wedding guests on an island inhabited by a killer. In 2010, she undertook a recurring role on Gossip Girl, playing Juliet Sharp, a self-serving villain. In a smaller role on the CW’s Supernatural, Katie spent six episodes portraying Ruby, a reformed demon who eventually saves the main protagonist from more of her kind.

Her early career included a stint on the wildly popular family drama 7th Heaven, in which she played Zoe for four episodes. Katie has also guest starred on episodes of The Division, Listen Up!, Sex, Love and Secrets, and The New Girl. In 2011, she made a cameo appearance as herself on the popular reality show, Celebrity Apprentice 4.

Katie was born to model Sherry Williams and actor David Cassidy, but the two separated some time after her birth. She was raised in California by her mother and step-father. Growing up, she participated in local theater and studied under an acting coach before receiving her first break in 2004. Katie was not allowed by her parents to pursue her dream of acting until she had finished high school.

Shortly after graduating high school, Katie landed a supporting role in the comedy film ‘Click,’ featuring Adam Sandler. She landed a role in the remake of the cult classic film, ‘Revenge of the Nerds,’ but production was ceased and the project canceled. Katie later starred as Amanda in the movie ‘Taken,’ alongside Liam Neeson and Faamke Jansen. She appeared in the 2011 film ‘Monte Carlo’ and has a role in the upcoming flick ‘Fencewalker,’ which is currently in post-production.

As she moved into television roles, Katie Cassidy starred in the reboot of ‘Melrose Place,’ in addition to accepting the recurring role of Ruby on ‘Supernatural’ and currently acts a spokesperson for a Malawi based charity.

Following in her mother’s footsteps, Katie did some modeling in 2004 with Abercrombie and Fitch. Relating to her father’s career in singing, Katie covered his song “I Think I Love You”. Not to forget Katie’s extended family, her grandparents Jack Cassidy and Evelyn Ward were also in show business. Though Evelyn Ward only appeared in a few films, Jack Cassidy appeared in over 70 films, but is remembered especially for all of the Tony nominations he has for musical roles.

Putting aside the career that Katie has had in film and television, it is also important to note that she took college prep classes in high school and graduated with honors. While she had the acting outlook in her mind already, she put forth the effort in school to succeed and become who she is today. Not only is Katie a beautiful actress, she is also an intelligent woman.

Katie is currently working on three different films, and her latest role was on the new hit television series on Fox, New Girl. While she does have the star-filled background in her family, it is clear to see that Katie will be in many future roles due to her art of acting. She has a loving family to push her forward, and the fan base to keep her adored and in the spotlight.
